But, before we start tossing characters into tiers like it’s a draft pick, remember that every unit in Honkai: Star Rail can shine with the right build and synergy.

How Honkai Star Rail Tier List Works

We base our rankings on a character’s performance in Memory of Chaos (MoC), Pure Fiction (PF), and Apocalyptic Shadow (AS), aka the holy trinity of endgame chaos.

We don’t take turbulence, whimsicality, or cacophony buffs into account, so these rankings reflect a character’s raw, consistent power.

And yes, we test them with their ideal setups: best Light Cones, solid teammates, and E0 (unless otherwise noted). Check out what we evaluate:

• DPS Units:
  • Overall damage output
  • Turn-by-turn consistency
  • Team comp dependency
  • AoE, Blast, or Single Target priority (based on mode).
• Support Units:
  • Buffs, debuffs, and utility
  • Skill Point (SP) economy
  • Synergy & SP generation efficiency.

• Sustain Units:
  • Healing, shielding, cleansing
  • Additional value (like energy regen or taunt).

HSR Tier List Explanation

Here’s what those shiny letters mean:

• SS Tier: God-tier units. Plug them in, and they carry, even without a high investment.
• S+ Tier: Almost god-tier. Strong, but they shine brighter with ideal gear or Eidolons.
• S Tier: Reliable and great with proper support. They need a bit more love to keep up with SS.
• A Tier: Solid picks. Shine in specific setups or events, but not the go-to for tough content.
• B Tier: Struggle without serious investment. Can work, but why stress?
• C Tier: Bottom of the barrel. Use for fun or early game, but don’t expect miracles.

Endgame Tier List Modes Breakdown in Honkai Star Rail

Each mode in HSR emphasizes different mechanics. Below is a cheat sheet:

Memory of Chaos (MoC)

• Focus on Blast and Single Target
• AoE has niche uses, mostly for mob waves
• Example: Firefly, Acheron, and Aglaea thrive here.

Pure Fiction (PF)

• AoE damage reigns supreme
• A single target is almost useless
• Ruan Mei and Castorice go crazy.

Apocalyptic Shadow (AS)

• Prioritizes Break and single target
• Heavy debuff resistance
• Fu Xuan and Aventurine offer key sustainability.

HSR Simulated Universe Notes

In the Simulated Universe, characters like Topaz or Silver Wolf may outperform their rank due to their Techniques or high SP efficiency.

That’s why SU is a different beast; it’s less about pure stats, more about value across multiple runs.
