Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse’s new urban-action ARPG set in a stylish, futuristic city called New Eridu. Instead of fantasy kingdoms or space empires, you’re dropped into a neon-soaked metropolis built around mysterious disasters known as Hollows. These Hollow zones spit out monsters called Ethereal, rare resources, and a lot of danger. You play as a Proxy—basically a fixer and guide—who helps different factions dive into Hollows, fight, and come back alive. The world has that signature HoYoverse polish: anime-style visuals, smooth character animation, and strong music direction. But the tone is more street-level and modern, with headphones, hoodies, graffiti, and late-night city vibes instead of swords and spellbooks. If you enjoy character-driven games with gacha elements, seasonal events, and regular updates, Zenless Zone Zero is being built in that same long-term live-service style.

Zenless Zone Zero Gameplay

Zenless Zone Zero plays like a fast, combo-heavy action game with a party of three characters on the field. You swap between them in real time to extend combos, trigger tag-in attacks, and break enemy defenses. Timing matters: dodges, perfect counters, and well-timed switches feel closer to a character-action game than a standard auto-battle RPG. Every character has a distinct weapon type, element, and role, so team-building isn’t just about power level—it’s about synergy. Some units stack stun, others shred shields or provide buffs and debuffs so your main damage dealer can melt bosses. Outside of combat, runs are organized through “Hollow Deep Dive” style stages that mix exploration, light puzzles, and random events. You’ll also roam parts of New Eridu, pick up side quests, talk with NPCs, and progress character stories. Expect the usual gacha systems: banner pulls, upgrade materials, and stamina-style energy, so it’s smart to use only official top-up channels and trusted retailers if you ever spend money. For competitive or hardcore players, high-level Hollow content and challenge modes will reward optimized builds and tight mechanical play, while casual players can still enjoy the story, characters, and stylish combat at a slower pace.
