Finding all Honkai Star Rail 4.2 Shiftmation Puzzle locations is mandatory if you want to clear the new Planarcadia maps and scrape together every last Stellar Jade.

Version 4.2 dropped six new Shiftmation puzzles split across Seafeld City and Seafeld TV Tower. Completing all of them nets you 120 Stellar Jade. We know 120 jades barely makes a dent in a ten-pull, but for F2P players and light spenders staring down a lost 50/50, scraping the map is how we build the stash.

What is Shiftmation? A Quick Refresher

Before we get into locations, here’s a quick overview for anyone who missed the Shiftmation mechanic when it first appeared in 4.0.

Shiftmation (officially part of the “Floating Grease Origin Retrace” exploration system) is a 3D perspective-rotating puzzle mechanic in Planarcadia. You rotate the entire world view in 90-degree slices to reposition platforms, objects, and paths relative to each other.

“Paints” are 2D slices you collect to lock objects in place, and windmills or pinwheels let you reset your rotation count so you don’t run out mid-puzzle.

You start with a rotation count of 12. The ground dive (hold down + jump) lets you drop through platforms, which matters a lot in some of these puzzles. If you want to skip the animation and move faster, there’s also a Simplify Rotation button. Use it; it saves time.

Seafeld City and Seafeld TV Tower, both added in patch 4.2 (“So Laughed the Masses,” released late April 2026), are where all 6 of these new puzzles live. They build directly on the same mechanics from prior Shiftmation puzzles in 4.0 and 4.1, so if you’ve done those, you already know the fundamentals.

All Shiftmation Puzzle Locations in HSR 4.2

There are exactly 6 Shiftmation puzzles in 4.2:

• 3 in Seafeld City
• 3 in Seafeld TV Tower

No new Shiftmation puzzles exist elsewhere in the 4.2 patch. Below is every location and solution.

Seafeld City Shiftmation Puzzles

• Puzzle 1 — Near Seafeld Station Space Anchor

Location: Head to the Seafeld Station Space Anchor and go straight to the end of the narrow road, then turn right. The Shiftmation is near a wall just past the bridge.

Solution:

1. Rotate right once.
2. Jump to the lever, then jump onto the platform on the right.
3. Rotate left three times.
4. Use the lever again and jump to the platform on the right.
5. Rotate right two times.
6. Use the lever one final time, go to the top, and then use the pinwheel.
7. Jump left to claim the paint and finish.

Reward: 20 Stellar Jade

• Puzzle 2 — Southeast of Seaside Avenue Space Anchor

Location: From the Seaside Avenue Space Anchor, head southeast. Take the stairs to the right, and you’ll see the Shiftmation on a narrow path next to a traffic cone.

Solution:

1. Rotate left once, then head left to claim the first paint.
2. Rotate left again and head to the pinwheel.
3. Rotate left once more, then go right to claim the next paint.
4. Rotate right once and go to the pinwheel to reset.
5. Rotate left twice, then claim the last paint to finish.

Reward: 20 Stellar Jade

• Puzzle 3 — Northwest of Mayor’s Residence Space Anchor

Location: From the Mayor’s Residence Space Anchor, head left and go down the stairs. The Shiftmation is near some Emoti figures sitting on a table by a café/road area.

Solution:

1. Use the platforms on the left to reach the upper level, then head right to claim the first paint.
2. Head to the pinwheel on the left and rotate left.
3. Jump to the uppermost level.
4. Rotate right twice, then claim the last paint to finish.

Seafeld TV Tower Shiftmation Puzzles

The TV Tower has three floors with one puzzle each. All three Space Anchors here are distinct, so fast travel makes this section easy to clean up.

• Puzzle 1 — North of Reception Hall Space Anchor

Location: From the Reception Hall Space Anchor, take the path to the right and enter the store. The Shiftmation is near a television inside.

Solution:

1. Jump onto the blue boxes on the left, then rotate left once.
2. Hop to the right and claim the first paint.
3. Jump to the blue boxes on the right side, then rotate left once more.
4. Jump and claim the last paint to finish.

Reward: 20 Stellar Jade

• Puzzle 2 — Southwest of Primary Studio Stage Space Anchor

Location: From the Primary Studio Stage Space Anchor, head southwest past the broken smiley face and follow the path south. In the last room, you’ll see the Shiftmation near some film rolls.

Solution:

1. Use the moving platform on the right to reach and claim the first paint.
2. Jump to the top of the platform, then rotate left once.
3. Jump right and claim the last paint.
4. Rotate left once more, then jump down onto the platform to the right to finish.

• Puzzle 3 — North of Production Zone Corridor Space Anchor

Location: From the Production Zone Corridor Space Anchor, follow the path north. The Shiftmation is inside a server room.

Solution:

1. Rotate left once, then jump up to the lever and use it.
2. Jump up to the first paint and claim it.
3. Drop back down to the Imagenae, then rotate left twice.
4. Jump right and claim the last paint.
5. Jump left to finish the puzzle.

Shiftmation Puzzle Mechanics & Exploration Tips

Reset before you need to. Don’t wait until you’re at 1–2 rotations left to hit a pinwheel or windmill. Some puzzles have tight rotation requirements, and running out mid-sequence means resetting the whole thing.

Paints lock slices, not just progress. When you claim a paint, it fixes that 2D slice as a physical object you can interact with. This changes what platforms and paths are accessible in subsequent rotations. Understanding this is what separates players who brute-force the puzzles from those who solve them cleanly on the first try.

Use Simplify Rotation. It cuts the animation entirely. On these 6 puzzles, there’s no real reason not to have it on.

Ground dive is your friend. The down + jump drop-through mechanic comes up in several of these puzzles. If you’re stuck trying to get to a lower platform, that’s likely the intended path.

These are one-time clears. Once you finish a Shiftmation puzzle, it’s done permanently. There’s no replay for additional rewards. So if you’re trying to 100% your Planarcadia exploration, just knock these out in one session because they don’t take long.

How These Compare to Previous Shiftmation Puzzles

The 4.2 puzzles are roughly on par, difficulty-wise, with 4.1’s additions in Pearluxe Tower and Lookout Cloud Station.

They’re not significantly harder or easier. If you completed those without guides, you’ll likely work through most of these on your own. If you got stuck in 4.0 or 4.1, this article has everything you need to get through 4.2 clean.
