This is Hanzo’s first Starlight skin, a membership unlock, not a Grand Collection or Exquisite Collection pull.

The two get mixed up because they share the same demonic-ninja visual language and because Hanzo went years without a single new skin.

Release Date and Server Time

Fangs of Slaughter unlocks September 1 at 4:00 PM MLBB server time (GMT+8), tied to the standard monthly Starlight reset rather than a limited-window event.

Moonton confirmed it on the official X account and YouTube channel between August 26 and 27, with the wording: “The September StarLight exclusive skin – Hanzo ‘Fangs of Slaughter’ will be available on 09/01! The exclusive Trail Effect and Sacred Statue will also make their debut!”

If you saw this skin listed under a June 2026 date somewhere, that’s not wrong exactly, just outdated. Advanced Server spotlights from February through May treated it as the June Starlight pick.

June instead went to Harith “Rebel Emberfang,” and Hanzo got pushed to September. Any page still citing June is running on the old schedule.

Hanzo “Fangs of Slaughter” Skin Review: Design, Animation, and Sound

The theme leans into a darker Akuma Ninja look built around an Oni-style mask and samurai-influenced armor, with the “fangs” showing up in the weapon more than the silhouette. 

Ame no Habakiri stops being a plain ninja blade and becomes a jagged, glowing edge with red flame-like accents running down the metal. The color palette sits in black, crimson, and silver, with neon-red slash trails on skill use.

Testers on Advanced Server flagged one real complaint worth repeating: the sword reads as an organic fang weapon, but the surrounding VFX layer leans cyber-ninja, almost glam-space.

That clash between the two visual languages is the main design gripe circulating right now, alongside comments that some effects recycle existing Starlight palettes.

On the positive side, the ultimate form gets a high-contrast phantom look while the body stays in the same meditative stance Hanzo already uses, and his jungle-steal animation on Demon Blood gets extra corrupted-energy trails that make buff snipes easier to read at a glance.

If you’ve ever lost a buff steal because the enemy couldn’t tell you were already channeling, that readability change actually matters in a Lord pit scrum.

Teaser lines include “All who dare stand in my way will be devoured,” pulled from the perk trailer. Other lines floating around short-form clips haven’t been confirmed as part of the official voice set, so treat those as spotlight material rather than a locked script.

Confirmed sources put “Fangs of Frenzy” as the official painted variant name at 100 Diamonds. A few outlets are also listing a second paint, sometimes called “Fangs of Strive,” bringing a total spend to 400 Diamonds for everything.

That third name hasn’t shown up in Moonton’s own materials as of this writing, so treat it as unconfirmed until the in-game shop lists it directly.

Real-money pricing depends on your top-up route and region; some Codashop listings for a Starlight card have run well past the sticker Diamond price.

Painted skins also leave the discounted in-season offer once the month closes, with the base skin later resurfacing through the Starlight Shop, fragments, or Annual Starlight rather than staying on permanent sale.

How to Get Hanzo “Fangs of Slaughter”

1. Open the Starlight icon on the home screen.
2. Tap Privileges, then activate the September 2026 Starlight membership for 300 Diamonds (or redeem a Starlight Card).
3. Claim Fangs of Slaughter from the member reward track.
4. Buy Fangs of Frenzy for 100 Diamonds if you want the second colorway while the month is live.
5. Run Starlight daily and weekly tasks if you also want the Sacred Statue, trail fragments, and other track cosmetics.

There’s no pity system or draw pool attached to this skin. It’s a flat membership purchase, which is exactly why it’s being framed as the accessible option for Hanzo mains who skipped the real Collector.

Soulfire Netherlord is Hanzo’s actual Collector skin, and it’s still the one people mean when they type “Hanzo Collector” into a search bar.

It launched through the Grand Collection event in July 2025 after slipping from an earlier June window, and reactions were split between mains happy to finally get a high-tier skin and players who felt the color scheme sat too close to his existing wardrobe.

Jigoku Shura is the skin that never actually shipped. It circulated as leaked Collector art for years and still gets brought up any time a new Hanzo cosmetic drops, because a chunk of the playerbase still wants that specific design over what eventually released.

Worth noting for September specifically: the month’s real Collector-tier release belongs to Argus, not Hanzo.

“Raiden Maru” is his first Collector skin, a mecha-samurai design running through the September Exquisite Collection event (the current name for the Grand Collection-style draw system) starting the same day as Fangs of Slaughter.

If you’re chasing an actual pity-pool Collector this month, that’s the one with the gacha math attached, not Hanzo.

Is Fangs of Slaughter Worth It?

Buy it if you main Hanzo, never picked up Soulfire Netherlord, or already planned on grabbing September Starlight for the Crystals of Aurora and weekly free rotation anyway.
